About Illina

I was born in Ternopil, Ukraine. I moved to Canada at the age of 11. I have always been an adventurous soul as I had complete freedom to explore the outdoors when growing up. Mountain climbing is a relatively new sport to me. I climbed my first mountain in 2015 – Mount Rainier. There are people that spend their entire life training to climb Mount Rainier and I could have failed miserably or been seriously injured, but I wasn’t, instead I successfully summited. After climbing Mount Rainier I decided that I had a knack for climbing and have spent a lot of my spare time climbing since then.

My weekend warrior training ground is the summit of Mount Tam, Mount Diablo, Lake Tahoe Region, and 10th Mountain Division in Colorado. Prior to departing for Everest I spent 2 weeks training at ~9,000 ft. in Granby, Colorado prior to leaving to Kathmandu.
